I feel like something every comic fan enjoys is a good ole fashion crossover, Hulk fighting Wolverine, Batman vs. Spider-Man, and on and on. Caleb has been working on multiple titles in the indie space for some time, two of which I greatly enjoy in Vampire Detective in Space and Unicorn Vampire Hunter. So what happens when a Unicorn Vampire Hunter finds the Vampire Detective in Space? Well to be honest I never thought about it until this campaign and now I can’t stop thinking about it.
For this issue Caleb is teaming back up with Dave Swartz, who drew the Vampire Detective in Space comic, to tell the tale. Will the two fight to the death? Will they find common ground and defeat a greater enemy? Will they figure out that the power of friendship is the greatest power of all? How does a Unicorn survive in space? We will find out in this series.
For this campaign Caleb has a ton to offer new backers, and ones that may have missed previous campaigns. For starters every physical backer will get a free print by Jamie Jones of the two titular characters. There are also 4 variant covers to choose from with multiple tiers from artists Dave Swartz, Daryl Toh, Walter Ostlie, and Matthew Warlick. And for fans of the series he also offers add-ons for stickers and trading cards. For newcomers there are add on for all of Caleb’s previous work including full volumes of the two series that this crossover is about. All together there are plenty of great goodies to choose from.
What really attracted me to this campaign was that it is the first crossover I can think of on Kickstarter, that doesn’t include a public domain IP. Caleb has worked hard for years in the indie space and now gets to do something fun and special with the characters he created. This is one that you definitely want to be a part of, and soon since the campaign is ending the day this post goes live. Check it out using the link below!
