I feel like I’ve said this many times but for some reason anthropomorphized animals always hit a spot for me. Also as someone who has recently gotten into MMA, even been training at a Gracie Ju-Jitsu gym, this comic hits plenty of interests as of lately. Zoo Jitsu Fighters is a comic that keeps coming up on my social media doom scrolling, as I am a part of many comic creator/indie comics groups on Facebook plus follow many creators across social media. And while they say don’t judge a book by its cover we all know that is bullshit because what always draws me into a new comic is the cover.
While looking over the Kickstarter page the feeling I get from this is that it's Gladiator meets Kung Fu Panda. Maybe that’s not what the creators would like as the comparison but it seems to fit in my head. We meet these animals who are all genetically altered to be stronger, faster, and of course stand like a human would. They are divided into tribes, train in different fighting styles, and then forced to compete in a colossal area. This promises to lead to some awesome action scenes, plus some cool matchups throughout the series. Through the preview pages on the page you can also see that the art is really great, like mainstream levels of art. All around it looks like a cool new series from a new publisher to the platform.
For those that end up backing the campaign there are lots of cool things to pledge towards. Of course there is the digital version of the comic for those that read their comics digitally. For the physical people out there they have thirteen covers to choose from from artists like Shannon Eric Denton, Guilherme Balbi, Wade King, Kevin Conrad, Ale Garza, Trevor Williams, Lee Kohse, and Lee Kohse, some of these covers are black and white versions of other covers. As for add-ons there are none right now, just plenty of covers to choose from.
If nothing else I feel like this comic will be a fun ride. The series looks to have plenty of depth too it to keep the reader coming back, but the main attraction will be the battles throughout. Sometimes that is all I need for a comic reading session. Hopefully you all check out the campaign, and try out the comic for yourself.
